The Scalextric Guinness World Speed Record has been smashed by celebrity Dallas Campbell.
He set a new speed equivalent to 983.88mph with a Honda F1 model Scalextric car.
His new record beats the previous record by almost 300mph, which stood at 696.90mph.
The new record was achieved on a 200-foot stretch of track set up at the VK Chatsworth Rally Show.
Scalextric has signed a deal to sponsor Henry Surtees a young racing driver dubbed the “next Lewis Hamilton”.
Henry Surtees is the 16 year-old son of former Formula 1 and motorcycle Grand Prix world champion John Surtees. Henry competes in the Formula Renault UK (FRUK) championship.
Henry Surtees, was sponsored by Scalextric in Formula BMW category last year, but has now progressed to FRUK and will race for the Manor Competition team. The team was once home to the 2007 F1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton.
Henry’s new car will carry the Scalextric livery throughout the 20-race season.

Scalextric, is rumoured to be planning a special James Bond Scalextric set in 2008.
An officially licenced tie-in racing set will be produced for the 22nd James Bond film, due out on 7th November 2008 (with the toy likely to be in stores in time for Christmas next year).
Thieves have stolen Scalextric sets worth more than £170,000.
They stole an entire trailer containing 866 of the brand new Scalextric Digital Super GT sets (worth £200 each) from a lorry park near Detling Aerodrome.
In the early hours of Monday, the trailer containing the sets was unhooked and attached to another vehicle, which was later found abandoned in North Woolwich, east London.
Detective Constable Catherine Baker, from Kent Police, said: “This was a planned operation and the offenders clearly targeted the trailer, knowing the high value of its contents, estimated collectively to be worth over £170,000.”
Scalextric is to launch a Transformers set in conjunction with the new Transformers movie which is due to hit cinemas on the 4th of July.
The new set, will be in the Scalextric Micro 64:1 series.
The set will feature Transformers Bumblebee and Decepticon Barricade from the new movie and allow you to transform the cars to reveal the robots.
The cars will be able to flip up to reveal the robots. The robots arms will come out from the and allow you to play in Battlemode to knock the other player off the track.
The set is due out in early June, costing £40.
